DisBand

disband

Guess what? I have an upcoming group exhibition!!! Woohoo!
Remember Once Upon, late last year? Well the lovely curators Angela and Renee are once again bringing there magic to the gallery to bring to you 'DisBand'.
Inspired by the 40th anniversary since the break-up of The Beatles, the theme of this carefully curated exhibition, titled Disband, is the end of relationships, be they romantic or otherwise. With the support of one of Sydney’s favourite indie art venue’s, aMBUSH gallery, Renee and Angela will be creating somewhat of an installation where visitors will tour the apartment of a couple undergoing such a split, and the featured works will be on the wall of their “living space”.
Its going to be AMAZING!!

Opening night : Thursday May 27th, 2010 at aMBUSH gallery from 6pm to 9pm, with the exhibition open daily from 10am to 5pm through to Sunday May 30th.

End of year exhibition

Well tonight was my end of year exhibition, at Tafe. It's weird to think its all over now. I took a few photos before the crowds poured in (there were so many people there, it was amazing). The top picture is of me with some of the girls from my class (you might noticed, I have dyed my hair red!!) . The middle picture is my banner, which I was exhibiting on the night. And the last shot is of some pretty decals on the windows, which I thought were quite cute. There was some amazing work on display, very inspiring.
Also amazingly enough, the Forth Thread zine showed up in the nick of time and we were able to give a stack away for free.

Forth Thread Issue One

You may recall, I am part of a design collaboration called 'Forth Thread', a website and zine
dedicated to showcasing established and up and coming talent.

The much anticipated moment, is soon upon us. We are nervously waiting and praying
the zines come from the printer today (as promised). Because after several months of hard work, lots of emails and late nights on msn, the Forth Thread zine is finally here! Featuring some amazing talent from around the world.
And tonight, at our end of year Tafe Exhibition we will be giving away 400 signed copies!!!
After tonight, we will start selling them, so don't fret if you miss out. There is plenty to go around.

Once Upon- tantaliser

onceupon
Finally finished my pieces for the Once Upon exhibition. So I thought I'd share a sneak peak image, which includes unfinished pieces, just to get you curious. If you are in Sydney you HAVE to go!! Otherwise, I will share the final pieces after the show.
I think my work is beginning to evolve and I can't wait to share these.

the first sneak peak

Well I'm working hard to get my illustrations done for the Once upon exhibition, now with one illustration down and 3 to go. I was struggling a little with my second drawing, as I had an idea but nothing I was doing seemed to be working out, perhaps I just need a break from it. But today, I finally cracked it, I think, and it seems to be working out, so in celebration I thought I'd share a small sneak peak of the beginnings of an illustration. (Just to give you a glimpse of the early stages) Oh by the way, I don't think I mentioned, my theme is princess and the pea :)

Once Upon Exhibition

Print

Feeling disheartened by the “Sydney Art Scene” Renee Anne and Angela D’Alton (of Leeloo) decided to hold the exhibition to celebrate Leeloo’s 2nd birthday, in one of Sydney’s best underground venues supporting struggling artists, aMBUSH gallery. Fast forward a few months, over 100 submissions and a lot of headaches later, Renee and Angela have curated 38 of the finest Australian artists participate in the ‘Once Upon’ exhibition which will no doubt be a highlight on the Sydney art calendar. Including some of Australia’s top emerging talent, amongst newcomers, with a wide variety of styles.

Each artist has been allocated their own fairy tale to interpret, and 30 of the artists will create four original and new artworks to exhibit. Also due to the volume of submissions, there will also be ‘On The Wall’, where a further 8 artists involved will submit one piece to be included.

Opening Night: Thursday November 19th. at aMBUSH gallery from 6pm-9pm.

The show will continue to open daily from Friday to Sunday, and there will be a Leeloo ‘Pop up store’ for the public to have a hands-on look at some of our gorgeous online goodies.

For more info visit the website or follow Once Upon on twitter

I'm very excited about the upcoming ‘Once Upon‘, exhibition. In which I will be one of the exhibiting artists (my first exhibition!!!) and I also got to design and illustrate this poster for the event, which was a lot of fun. Forth Thread (which I am part of) are also proud supporters of the event.

Leeloo Exhibition

leeloo

Leeloo has established itself as a solid supporter of young emerging designers and artists, as well as providing a nurturing community environment to those involved.

As a result, Leeloo will be celebrating it’s 2nd birthday, and its ongoing mission to support local artists by holding its very own exhibition (and opening night party of course!).

Its going to be so much fun! The exhibition is titled Once Upon, and Leeloo is currently seeking talented artists within the Australian community be a part of the exhibition.

It is to be held at aMBUSH gallery in Sydney from Thursday 19th November.

Keeping with the theme, all accepted artists will be allocated a fairy tale to provide a basis for interpretation for the works which will be displayed. Artworks provided will be for sale during the exhibition, with all pricing, specifications, entry fees and other details to be advised after acceptance.

The event will feature a sponsored opening night with strong industry support and exposure via our extensive online networks and other media. The Leeloo artists you will be exhibiting alongside are Bec Winnel (My Charlie Girl), Alicia Rosam (Ali J), Jessica Hyde (truth.be.told) and yours truly Tabitha Patterson (Tabitha Emma) amongst many others.
