I was looking at a blog I follow today, and decided to check out their blog roll, to see if they had any good recommendations, and I stumbled upon this amazing site, typographic posters, which is just full of amazing typographic posters! and being a big fan of typography I was rather excited :)

Once Upon Exhibition

Print

Feeling disheartened by the “Sydney Art Scene” Renee Anne and Angela D’Alton (of Leeloo) decided to hold the exhibition to celebrate Leeloo’s 2nd birthday, in one of Sydney’s best underground venues supporting struggling artists, aMBUSH gallery. Fast forward a few months, over 100 submissions and a lot of headaches later, Renee and Angela have curated 38 of the finest Australian artists participate in the ‘Once Upon’ exhibition which will no doubt be a highlight on the Sydney art calendar. Including some of Australia’s top emerging talent, amongst newcomers, with a wide variety of styles.

Each artist has been allocated their own fairy tale to interpret, and 30 of the artists will create four original and new artworks to exhibit. Also due to the volume of submissions, there will also be ‘On The Wall’, where a further 8 artists involved will submit one piece to be included.

Opening Night: Thursday November 19th. at aMBUSH gallery from 6pm-9pm.

The show will continue to open daily from Friday to Sunday, and there will be a Leeloo ‘Pop up store’ for the public to have a hands-on look at some of our gorgeous online goodies.

For more info visit the website or follow Once Upon on twitter

I'm very excited about the upcoming ‘Once Upon‘, exhibition. In which I will be one of the exhibiting artists (my first exhibition!!!) and I also got to design and illustrate this poster for the event, which was a lot of fun. Forth Thread (which I am part of) are also proud supporters of the event.

Graphic design

I love this poster, is so funny. And rather relevant to what I have been learning at Tafe. We had an exercise in Concept development where we had to find something that was badly designed and something well designed. Its scary just how dodgy some designs are. You know a bit of clip art, strange gradients and masses of boring type. It really is bad for your health, hehe.

I found this poster on flikr, part of a 'What is Graphic Design' poster competition. A must see, there are some great entries. This one is by Tonka 3000
