my love for paper

On Tuesday night, I went shopping at Bondi Junction, as I was after some ear muffs. As I was walking along, a glimpsed a shop sign that said 'Typo' The typography lover in me got all stupidly excited and quickly drawn towards the store to find out what they had inside. I discovered it to be a nice new stationary shop, and seeing how much I love paper goods I went in and had a good look. Turns out this shop is an off shoot of 'Cotton On' (a chain clothing store), and I know I should be supporting more independent stores rather than big chains, but stationary just does something to me. Anyway, I picked up this cool ampersand mug for just $5 and they packaged it in this lovely brown cardboard box (top image).

While on the topic of paper, I decided to clean all the paper stuff I had stuffed under my bed today. Seems I horde an awful lot of bits of paper and paper goods, all in the name of art I say!
Don't worry, I didn't throw anything away, I just sorted it, so it wasn't such a mess.

Oh how I love thee paper.

Down here in Oz, the Autumn is coming to an end and winter is a coming! and it sure it coming!! the last week has been wet and cold. I bought ear muffs yesterday, this made me rather happy, as I'm tired of having cold ears in the colder months, so this winter I'm prepared to be snug!

Its been a while since I did some etsy recommendations, so here's a few inspired by the seasons;
1.Horizontal Totem Spin Thread
2.Bearded Bloke Brooch Handmade Romance
3.Wolff Postcard Klein Family
4. Leather and cotton ring kjoo
5. Fungi Groundwork

mori girl

The other day I pulled out this drawing and it suddenly dawned on me that it looks a bit like a Mori girl. What do you think?

If you havn't heard of Mori Girls. The mori girls (森ガール) belong to a subculture which began in Japan. 'Mori' means forest in Japanese, and if you're looking for the simplest description of mori girls, they are girls who look like they live in the forest. Indeed, the unique appearance of the mori girls is what attracts most people to join in their adventures.

To learn more about what makes a Mori Girl, read this article.

The Japanese are just too awesome. Not only do they produce gorgeous paper goods, but also amazing housewares. Today I discovered this very sweet Japanese store online, via Sodapop Design who recently featured some of my work.

How could I forget??? I haven't shared what I did for Finders Keepers yet! I was asked to design their logo and business card for their own label 'Find Me, Keep Me' Which is the name they now sell their own products under. I tried to get photos of the banner at their market stall the other weekend, but everytime I tried to get a photo someone (or many someones) would stand in the way. The bottom photo was the best I could do, If you where at the market, you may have caught a glimpse.
Oh and I love their cushions, as pictured. So pretty, and printed on such gorgeous vintage floral fabric!!

I love Finders Keepers

Finders Keepers market never ceases to inspire me. I went on the weekend to check out all the stalls and find a pressie for my mum. I feel in love with these amazing hand made mushrooms that had been made to decorate the market. Makes me want to just sit and do craft all day.
There were also so many amazing stalls and everyone did amazing jobs with their stall displays. The whole vibe was just wonderful, if only I had more money to spend.
