New 'made it' website

Made it have updated there website. If you don't know, made it is an online selling venue like etsy but is just for buying and selling Australian handmade goods. I have set up my shop on the new site and it is looking great. The site has only just gone live so it will be exciting to see how it goes. With the Australian dollar being so low at the moment, its encouraging to have a good site that supports Australian handmade goods.

Lost and found

I just thought I'd spread the love and share some cute little etsy finds.

A lovely little purse, I love the shape, its rather unique and unexpected, and the detailing is wonderful. From Come Day Go Day

This gorgeous original drawing has been applied to a block and will arrive with a single feather in a cute tea bag that has coffee rings. What a gorgeous gift this would make! From A Tea Leaf

This kitty is so adorable, from Abigail Brown I love its little patches

I have a real thing for paper goods. This journal so whimsical and beautiful. I love the feather illustration. From Celestefrittata this Itallian girl also makes gorgeous mail bags. Be sure to check this shop out.

Look Book

I just discovered this sited called LOOKBOOK.nu
Its a really cool style website, where people can share there style, not only is the fashion awesome, but there is also some amazing photography. So if your looking for style inspiration or want to share your own style, this is a great site, because really trends start on the streets. I rather prefer this site to Style Mob, it seems more stylish.

s
EDIT: How coincidental is this? After stumbling upon this site last night, this morning I get an email from etsy saying
'Tonight's Shop Live host is the über-fashionable creator of Lookbook.nu, Yuri.[...] To chat with Yuri about Lookbook.nu and the Etsy fashion that inspires her, come by the Virtual Labs tonight, Thursday, February 19th, 2009 at 7pm EST!'

Fungus fashion

My latest edition to my 'forest' collection, a mushroom purse. It may be a while till I get any more designs created, as I have some custom work to do and a wholesale order as well as now being back at college. But for now, enjoy!

Owl Pillow

I have to say, out of all the many owls I have seen over the past year or so, this has to be the best.

From Lolley land , These owl pillows are just stunning, with a gorgeous silk screen print pattern on the front and a beautiful black and white printed fabric on the back. Such wonderful detail in the screen print. It is truly unique, and quite opulent.

Korean paper company 'O-check design graphics'

Yesterday I went to a paper shop in Bondi Junction and picked up this gorgeous little note book. Which is also inspiring for my new collection, which is still in the works.

I looked the company that designed the book up on the net, and found they are a Korean paper company, called O- Check Graphic Design, and they make some lovely paper goods. They seem to be up with the trends. It seems kind of funny to see lots of Paris inspired paper goods on a Korean website.

Oh deer! I have been tagged

Well the lovely Sam of Matou en Peluche has tagged me. Now this tagging game involves me blogging about the sixth image in my sixth folder and then proceeding to tag another six people. Now one would think, this would be pretty straight forward, but if you had ever found yourself in the deep stray forests of my computer filing system, if you can even call it a system, you would realise that this is not as simple as it may sound.
So I opened my documents, ok 6th file. Well it turns out the 6th file is called 'Ipod'. And it happens to contain 50 empty folders. Well that was fun. Lets try a new tactic...
So, new tactic.. now surely if I start in 'My Pictures' I will find a suitable image. So I open 'My pictures', and the 6th folder is 'fonts'. Not looking good. And sure enough the folder is full of, you guessed it, fonts. 'Why is there a folder full of fonts in 'my pictures'?' I ask myself.

I know! Scrap the PC, I have a new macbook, its all fresh and hasn't yet been infected by the digital equivalent of my handbag (which happens to be full of old receipts, crumbs, squashed stuff, rubbish, wrappers etc)

So I open up my mac, open the pictures folder, and the 6th folder is 'stock images'. It seems we are in luck. The 6th image was this one...

Which actually happens to be related to something else I was intending to write about.. my new collection.
One day I was looking at my mums stock image folder and caught a glimpse of some deer pictures and it got my attention. I asked where they came from and she showed me the etsy seller she bought the images from Shaving Kit. And she said I could use them if I want.
This inspired me to work on a new ' forest/ woodland' inspired range of purses and art.

And here ladies and gentlemen is the first design off the press:

Now available in store. Stay tuned for more on this range

And now beware fellow bloggers for it is now my turn to tag you, I do hope you have better like finding your 6th image contained in the 6th folder, than I did.

its all about the lights

Merry Go round- this years girl

strangepowers- yyellowbird
looking glass- m kendall

this seems to be a growing trend among bright young photographers.
Its a little technique, which in some cases has been faked called, Bokeh, and according to the ye all knowing wiki is derived from Japanese, a noun boke 暈け, meaning "blurred or fuzzy" , it is a photographic term referring to the appearance of out-of-focus areas in an image produced by a camera lens using a shallow depth of field.

I think its quite nostalgic, its like squinting at lights.

Romantic photography

Being the month of romance, I thought I'd share some lovely romantic photography finds from etsy.

Kristy Bee
Beautiful soft photos

Nadine Bell
A lovely french lady, she hasn't had any sales yet, so please take a look

Irene Suchocki
Irene also sells her photos as cards, so they would make lovely valentine cards, if you are looking for something different.

new logo

I decided to create a proper logo type for myself, rather than just using a font, actually creating a logo type. Especially seeing as I am studying graphic design.

I have also made a new banner using it. With a bit of a spring (even though it is summer here)/ valentine feel to it
I'd love some feedback, thanks :)
