Moving house
We are finally moving house! My house is currently a complete mess, with boxes everywhere. But at the end of next week we will being moving to a new house closer to the city (Sydney), yay! less travel.
But it means I probably won't have a chance to blog for a while and we may have to go a few days without the internet eeek!!! so business may have to close for a few days :(
How will I survive without the internet???
Also I want to paint pretty houses like the one above.
Can't wait till I have more spare time, the projects sure are building up.

Jewels and time
I think you can tell how busy I am by how often I blog. This month has been hectic, and l have been rather neglecting my blog.
I came across this jewelry designer ( Lizzie Fortuna) the other day, in someones blog. I really love this textile and vintage style. It makes me want to give it a go myself. If only I had time. I guess its a project for the Christmas holidays.

the inspiration (how gorgeous!!)-

Paddington market banner
For those of you living in Sydney, you HAVE to keep an eye out for the new banner at Paddington markets (to be up in about a month) because I designed it!!!
I entered a competition about a month or so ago to design a banner for the market and just recently discovered I won!!
For those of you who don't know paddington markets is a well know market in Sydney. And many famous Australian designers started by selling there stuff at Paddington.
Its really hard to fit it in my blog, as its harder to see the detail when I squish it down to fit,
so if you want to see it properly click here

My concept:
Paddington market is an exciting place that mixes, fresh designers, crafts, art, vintage, food and more. I wanted to explore this diversity in my banner. I used a paper background and images of vintage goods to show it is a place you can discover vintage treasures. The paper also represents art. Also the way I have drawn the people and objects gives the banner an artistic feel. I also used images of clothing and buttons to represent emerging designers showcasing their work at the markets. I have used images of people bustling around and looking at things to make you feel like you are there. it draws the viewer in and makes you want to be a part of it.
I used a mix of colours to show how the markets are a colourful place full of many things to do and look at.
The typography for 'paddington' was hand drawn, as I wanted to gove the banner a hand made feel as I think the markets are all about people handmaking goods or finding unique items to sell. The seller has a more intimate relationship with the goods and the market is a place where the buyer can meet the designer or artist. This is what makes it different to a shopping centre. Also the market is a place to find unique Australian goods. Note the 'Made inAustralia' tag on the clothes rack. i used the church building in the background as it is an icon people associate with the markets.
