A few moments in the life...

A glimpse into my day...
well its more just a few moments of yesterday afternoon.

I finished this bag today, but below is a few shots of me working on it. If your interested.
The birdie!! Stenciled with pink fabric paint.

Here I am working on it, hehe. Im always working on the floor. I like having lots of space to work.
Oh and I made another large tea cup purse, lovely pose (not) of me working on it.

And this is me, incase you didnt know.

type bird

Im soo excited about my latest print. Typewriters and birds are two of my favourite things right now. And I love how this has turned out, so please take a look :)

I think this birdie has found one awesome perch to sit on, he looks pretty content.

This was all done on photoshop, the bird to a while to do, as I put a lot of detail into it, so im quite proud. I used a really cool bit of vintage paper for the background.

Secrets and lost words

You have probably heard of post secret before, its an ongoing community art project where people mail
in their secrets anonymously on one side of a homemade postcard. There is something lovely about hand written and collaged writing, people sharing personal thoughts through art and typography, something you can never achieve with an email. I collect all the notes my friends wrote to me in primary school when we'd hand write it and draw little pictures. And if you have kids im sure you keep their handmade notes and art. Its priceless.
So if you havnt already subscribe to the sunday secrets.

Another interesting site is found magazine, where people submit notes or photos they have found lying around.

These would make great collage material! Maybe I'll have to scan some old letters and notes of my own and utilize them.

Or do what restless things did to this old envelope! (time to start digging through the bin!)

Wonderful whimsical things

Im on holidays for two weeks, so I might get to do a bit more blogging, even though I have a mega long list of things to do, including stocking my shop, coming up with some new designs (yes, there are exciting new things install) and I have a huge consignment order to fill.

I just thought I'd share a few things I recently came across which I rather like and find inspiring:

Vintage inspired gift card envelope from Autumn to may. Her shop is full of lovely whimsical things.

Sushipot Large Pattern Tags , these are a cool idea, and would be great for collage. Sushipot sells lots of awesome vintage bits and pieces.

Hand embroidered silk purse, so pretty and unique from Contemporary Stitches

a mixed media brooch by Cathy Cullis. She does lovely textile and mixed media works.

Gorgeous spoons from Magie Hollingworth, her work is just beautiful! Im in love with these spoons.

big city daze, a whimsical collage by Corid

Thnigs that you count, pills a sweet little notebook by art school girl

And I just randomly added in a pic of a typewritter, because I have a thing for them at the moment, well arnt they such lovely things? Makes me wish we didn't throw ours out years ago. Perhaps I'll do a post of typewritter related things later :)

Houses

(photo taken by me, in enmore, near my tafe/collage)

On my walk to college I go past a lot of old worn down terrace homes. And even though they are worn and the paint is peeling, there is something really lovely about them, and there is so much more detail put into these homes than modern homes. Walking past them makes me think, houses are rather cool, so here are a few house inspired works I have come across:

Purse Chez Paris Le Sac $55.55 from fallinstyle

House watercolour - Original drawing, $42 from alphabets

Home -print, $20 by Katrine K

Four little houses, $25 by art quirk ( she does heaps of house paintings, you really must see!)

Photo by yyellowbird she takes some amazing photos of old abandoned homes too, so take a good look at her flickr page, its amazing!

House coin purse, $10 from boqinana

Collage fun

I've been getting into a bit of collaging lately, I have a stack of stuff ready for sale, but for now here is a little collage i made for my friends birthday.
This isn't the best quality scan, but you get the idea.

If you haven't heard of misprinted type, you really must check out this site , he is a genius brilliant graphic designer.
